The Davidson Police Department has received information that two white males driving an old “ratty” red Chevy van, with NC License Plate #YNX2188 are approaching citizens in the Harris Teeter parking lot with an offer to sell an “extra” home theatre system from their business (Carolina Sound & Home, located in Union County, using a Matthews mailing address.) THIS IS AN ILLEGAL ACT.
It is our understanding from talking to other law enforcement agencies that this company is selling factory seconds. While the products are not stolen, they are seconds and may or may not work. These folks travel up and down the east coast looking to sell these factory “seconds”.
For your information, Davidson Town Ordinance 18-202 reads as follows:
Sec. 18-202. Sale of goods on streets; peddlers.
It shall be unlawful for any person to sell or offer for sale or peddle goods, wares, or merchandise upon the public streets or public parking lots of the town or to engage in business as a peddler anywhere in the town without first having applied for and obtained a permit so to do from the town.

Our patrol force is aware of this information and will respond and take action if we are called. In the meantime, we will also be in contact with the property management firms of the retail centers asking them to provide us “authority to act” and trespass these folks if we come across them.
