"God is Just"   by Diana M. Cline

When the world looks at little lan who at age eleven has not uttered a word, eaten a bite of food, or taken a step due to a rare muscular disease, it sees an unfair situation. And where is the fairness in two young sisters lives who lost their parents, grandparents, and sibling in a murderous robbery one March night? Or how about the young woman who died from cancer while her horribly abusive father lived to a ripe old age? The sufferings of this fallen world do not always make sense. Healing doesn't always come here on earth, justice sometimes falls short, and death isn't spared from the young and innocent.

But it is faith that reminds us that what our eyes cannot see nor mind comprehend, God sees and understands. Throughout His Word, we are told that God is just. And though life screams anything but justness, God's steady hand guides our souls to trust and not be afraid; to look and find His presence in all things; to be still and know that He is God. Nothing is hidden from His and nothing can escape Him. The statutes of the Lord" are right for He is holy and just. His judgments are true for He is holy and just. His laws and commandments are pure for He is holy and just. And though our sufferings often times make no sense, God makes perfect sense. As I watch my son fight to fall asleep through the ticks and noises of his disease, I am reminded in the midst of my emotional exhaustion that God has a plan and purpose for all things. Nothing is wasted in His holy design for our lives and situations. And to my God whose day is as of a thousand years, I realize that His timing may not always be as I would have it; but it is Just for He is Just. And it is with that knowledge that we submit our sorrows and sufferings to God in order that it might bring Him glory.

"The Lord my God will enlighten my darkness. For by You I can run against a troop. By my God I can leap over a wall. As for God, His way is perfect; the word of the Lord is proven; He is a shield to all who trust in Him."
Psalm 18:28-30.
